Croissant Viennoiserie Baguette

Claudia and Jérôme Mauguin focus on traditional, handmade baking with local, high-quality ingredients. In 2022, when they opened their bakery, they won first prize for best croissant au beurre and second prize for baguette traditionnelle at the Verdun Expo Meuse.

Jérôme had also won awards in 2017 and 2019. The bakery is known for its delicious bread and excellent viennoiserie.

The croissant from Boulangerie Mi didn’t look very impressive from the outside and was slightly squashed on one side. The exterior could have been a bit crispier. But when I cut it open, I saw a beautiful, even structure. It had a rich buttery aroma and flavor, and melted on the tongue like a cloud.

The croissant praline was like the croissant, but than with a filling. The filling wasn't too sweet and had a pleasant hazelnut flavor. The croissant filling had a rich, creamy flavor.

Torsade chocolat

The torsade au chocolat from Boulangerie Mi is a kind of twisted pain suisse. It had a very rich filling, but the overall flavor wasn’t particularly special.

Baguette tradition

The baguette tradition from Boulangerie Mi had a nice crispy crust. The crumb could have been better; it was a bit uneven. It had a slightly sour taste and felt somewhat sticky. The baguette céréale had a better internal structure.
